Obituary Cheryl Offutt Wert

Cheryl Offutt Wert died Sunday, May 19, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center.  She
was 65.

Mrs. Wert was born June 19, 1936, to Bessie Thornton Offutt and the late Wallace H.
Offutt.  She was an active member of Calvary Church and a homemaker.  She
enjoyed Dixieland music and was actively involved in the preservation of
Dixieland music.  She also had been active in the Republican Party.

In addition to her mother, Bessie Thornton Offutt of Wadsworth, Ohio, Mrs. Wert is
survived by her husband, William Henry Wert II; her daughter, Deborah Ann Prisel and
husband, John, of Parma, Ohio; sons, William H. Wert III and wife Gene, of Waterloo,
Neb., and Glenn Wallace Wert and wife, Amy, of Oberlin, Ohio; grandchildren Chris-
topher Gabelman, William H. Wert IV, Scott Wert, Sara Wert, Jeremy R. Wert, Thornton
J. Wert, William K. Wert, and Anna Noel Ruth Wert; and great-grandchildren, Owen
Wert, Alexa Lynn Egnart, and Cameron James Egnart; also surviving Mrs. Wert are
sister, Sue Date of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brothers Hal Offutt and wife, Janet of Darien,
Conn., and Russ Offutt and wife, Gloria of Akron, Ohio.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 25, 2002, at Ghent Christian
Church.  The family will receive friends following the service.  In lieu of flowers
memorial donations may be directed to American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St.,
Charlotte, N.C. 28202, or Calvary Church, Imagine Campaign, 5801 Pineville-Mathews
Rd., Charlotte, N.C. 28226.  Lowe Funeral Home is serving the Wert family (Lowe
